Another delightful pairing is set to sizzle on screen as Kapuso prime artists Megan Young and Tom Rodriguez team up in one of GMA Network’s highly anticipated programs this 2015—Marimar.
In an interview, Megan reveals her excitement on portraying an iconic and well-loved character and how much she can relate in the story of a Filipina barrio lass. “This is definitely a great project to do. Dito sa Marimar talagang maipapakita ang character nating mga Filipina na handang humarap sa kahit anong pagsubok.” [This is definitely a great project to do. Marimar reflects that distinct Filipina characteristic of being able to face any challenge.]
“Marimar is like any other Pinay who strives for the best. She’s a hard worker, gagawin niya ang lahat para makuha ang mga pangarap niya. Ganoon din ako, kahit sinabi ng iba dati na baka matalo ako sa pageant…I put that aside kasi ito ang gusto ko. Manalo, matalo at least nagawa ko. Si Marimar ganoon din na kahit mag-fail siya, in the end she’ll make sure na ‘yung failure na ‘yun ay magiging encouragement sa kanya to strive for the better,” added the multi-talented actress. [Marimar is like any other Filipina who strives for the best. She’s a hard worker, she will do anything to reach her dreams. I am the same way – even if people told me that I might lose the pageant (Miss World 2013)… I put that aside because that was what I wanted. Win or lose, at least I did it. Marimar is the same in that even if she fails, she makes sure that the failure turns into encouragement for her to strive for the better]
Equally excited is Megan’s leading man, Tom, who is very vocal about his preparations for the series. “I knew right away when I first heard about it that it was going to be a big project kaya wala talaga akong pinapalampas na oras for training. Right now, I started boxing and doing circuit training.” [I knew right away when I first heard about it that it was going to be a big project, which is why I didn’t waste any time and started training. Right now, I started boxing and doing circuit training.]
Despite being nervous, Tom is very much excited to take on the challenge of portraying the role of Sergio. “Nakaka-pressure pero at the same time I’m very excited because I know I’m going to learn a lot on this project. Plus, Megan and I have a great working relationship kaya mas nakakabawas ng kaba. It would be a great and fun challenge to breathe new life to the character.” [It’s a lot of pressure but at the same time, I’m very excited because I know I’m going to learn a lot on this project. Plus, Megan and I have a great working relationship so that lessens my nervousness. It would be a great and fun challenge to breathe new life to the character.]
Marimar is definitely the primetime series to watch out for as it takes pride in bringing together some of the entertainment industry’s respected actors and actresses including Ms. Jaclyn Jose, Zoren Legaspi, Lauren Young, and Ms. Alice Dixson in her comeback project as a Kapuso.
Joining the stellar cast are Nova Villa, Tommy Abuel, Carmi Martin, Ina Raymundo, Ricardo Cepeda, Jaya, Cris Villanueva, Dion Ignacio, Frank Magalona, Ashley Cabrera plus Boobay as the voice of Fulgoso.
From the original format of Ines Rodena and license granted by Televisa, S.A. de C.V., Marimar is produced by GMA Network, Inc. and to be directed by Dominic Zapata.
